Plas Heli is a not for profit company established to operate the new Welsh National Sailing Academy and Events Centre that’s due to open in Pwllheli during the Summer of 2015.
Plas Heli will be a vibrant centre for local residents and visitors alike with a restaurant, bar, meeting rooms and a large exhibition hall available. With Dublin Bay and Ireland’s east coast only 75NM away the new visitor and events pontoon are ideal to welcome the visitors arriving by sea and using Pwllheli as a base to visit all that Cardigan Bay, Llŷn Peninsula and Snowdonia have to offer. Cruise into Pwllheli harbour, berth your boat for a few nights and explore the area either by land or by sea.
The new berthing facilities also include a step down pontoon with a floating slipway that ensures kayakers and rowers as well as sailors have easy access to the inner harbour.
The Hub at Plas Heli is home to Grŵp Awyr Agored (Outdoor Activity Group), an umbrella organisation for a number of different outdoor activity clubs in the Llŷn and Dwyfor area supporting them to encourage local residents to enjoy and appreciate the area’s natural resources. The Hub is a storage space for the clubs’ equipment enabling the clubs to save money by sharing, clubs such as the Pwllheli Rowing Club, Llŷn Surf Club, Dwyfor Adventure Club, CHIPAC (Pwllheli Youth Sailing), Pwllheli Sailing Club and the Pwllheli and Llŷn Sea Cadets. When the Academy opens its doors in the Summer of 2015 Plas Heli will also be a warm haven to welcome the clubs home from their adventures across the region. Plas Heli will also encourage the clubs to develop relationships with other clubs across the world.
When the Academy opens in the Summer of 2015 it will provide Pwllheli with a new venue that will cater for the local, national and international market on a spectacular site with views of the Snowdonia mountain, Cardigan Bay and the coast of the Lleyn Peninsula. Plas Heli has space for events of any size, whether your audience is 5 or 5,000! If you’re looking for a venue for a party with amazing views, a fair or a concert then this is your space!
